ABENDE celebrates 30 years

ABENDI completed 30 years on March 26. In the event, ABENDI launched the “NDT Professionals Day” which will be celebrated every March 27, and honored, among others, PETROBRAS/SEQUI which celebrates 30 years of staff certification. ABENDI thanks all partners and contributors who assisted to the success of these 30 years.

ABENDE now becomes ABENDI

The Brazilian Association for Non Destructive Testing and Inspection – ABENDE gains a new acronym: ABENDI. The change follows the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) market, which is no more limited to NDT, turning its activities to Inspection Engineering, wherein testing is one of the tools for ensuring the equipment integrity. By using the letter “I” in place of “E” the Inspection activity, which is already in the ABENDI’s name for a long time, is included in the acronym.

ABENDI receives Accreditation from ANP (National [Brazilian] Petroleum Agency)

The ABENDI’s accreditation on ANP was published on May 27, at Diário Oficial. This accreditation represents the formal recognition of the institution for working in relevant areas to oil, natural gas, and biofuels industry, with ability to carry out R&D activities technologically. This accreditation is necessary for the dealership (as PETROBRAS) to invest in R&D institutions.
In addition, according to the clause, the dealership is required to conduct qualified expenditures with R&D in value equivalent to 1% from the production gross proceeds for such sector.

Now, Dimensional Control is SNQC (National [Brazilian] System of Qualification and Certification of Personnel for Non-Destructive Testing)

Dimensional Control Inspector qualification and certification is part of the Brazilian System of Qualification and Certification. Therefore, the applications for PETROBRAS qualification will not be accepted anymore. PETROBRAS qualification system is still working only for the ongoing proceedings’ closure. The SNQC/CD is assisted by the ABENDI’s Certification Sector for theoretical and practical tests.
Nuclear Industry Recognition

The ABENDI’s Certification Sector is now recognizing N3 in NDT for the Nuclear Industry, as described in supplementary document DC-021, from March 13, 2009, when the Board of Certification approved the new certification and its implementation rules.
